I am helping a friend today on a 02' GT 5- speed and we had to unbolt the header on the passenger side to drop the transmission today. It was a huge pain the rear. I was wanting to know is there any easier way put the trans back in?? I have been reading and a lot of folks are saying to drop the k-member also? Just any advice would be helpful.
thanks

I had to swap out the clutch in my 00GT with BBK LTs and the easiest way is to just pull the motor. I didn't want to wrestle everything by myself. But to each their own

Had my cars re-done, went to check the install and the mechanic had pulled the entire exhaust except the stock exhaust manifold, this done by Aamco, very very professional, in my honest opinion.
From what I've been reading you need check the bell housing with a gauge to see if you have alighnment issues, that is if you removed the bell housing w/cars transmission.
Yea, you might need to drop the k-member.

I agree with rd just pull the motor and tranny all at once. I have long tubes also and there is no way i would fight them to do a clutch job

Header bolts

I know its been a while, but how did you manage to get the header bolts off. Im in the middle of dropping the trans to replace the clutch and there are two bolts that seem impossible to get off for the header on the passenger side. (I have read up on the headers and found that the bbk LT headers came with bolts that were too long.) anyways ive tried all kinds of extensions, swivels, you name it. If you have any information on how to get the bolts off the header on the passenger side i'd really appreciate it.

If you have BBK and they are the longer bolts you are going to have a great time on your hands. I have long tubes and instead of doing it I just took it to a shop for the clutch. It wasn't worth my struggles with it and I feel like I need a bit more tools to do it completely on my own. You might need to remove the starter to get to the bolts better.
