i am battling my headers to go in! wish i would have done this when the heads were off! i can not get the drivers side in? i got the passenger side in with the good ol rubber sledgehammer but i cant o n the drivers side..
any tips....these bbk aren't like other they have this wild pipe design nothing like the stockers(these equal length suck).....
i am dirty, hands are cut up, and im getting tired of this....this is my last performance mod besides swapping mufflers......

im thinking of draing the oil and emoving the oil filter and coming up from the bottom through a almost impossible whole....or the rod the connects the steering wheel to the pinion?(whatever its called). also the washers on the header bolts wont clear the tubes grr...so im filig the washers down to make them work!!!! woot woot... this is taking me almost 3 hours and my entire exhaust is removed!!!

HELP

I have never installed the equal lengths before. It may help to loosen the motor mount and jack up the engine.

Take the dipstick out and put it in. Why would you beat on something you just paid $225 for...?

ididnt beat on it i used "gentle man force" with a rubber hammer.....and i was just to clear the a/c line right against the frame...

i need to find other header bolts though thats for sure! the stockers wont work, i dint get bolts with these cause they were used. any ideas/links to what i need maybe even possible bought at the local store to make this install go faster!

we had to jack the motor up a bit to put a set of equal length shorties on my bro's old car. I had to go to ace and get Allen head bolts to use with my current headers

Work smart, not hard, buddy. Unbolt the motor mounts and lean the motor side to side when installing the headers. Be careful, and they'll go right in.

jack the motor up ay?
i got the passenger side in,with out jacking up the motor....i see it possible without doing but i know it would make it way easier! wish someone would come on here and tell me they did it without jacking the motor up and how...
these are the headers btw
http://www.coolblueperformance.com/ProductImages/exhaust/headers/9028690_small.jpg
they costed me 90.00 and they are either bbk or mac but either way they area pita to install

and its too late about the bolts(sort of) i bought a set of bolts from autozone on there bootleg performance section...they are allen headed and i think will work i can return them if all else fails and goto ace like you recommend...
these are 3/8-16 which i believe is correct...

what else had to be done if you recall i tried to pull on the dipstick tube but it dindt budge and i dint want to break it or anythingi really think that just the tube out could make it possible cause i would be able to put the header straight down and in..do i want to pull the actual stick out and then pull on the tube?

If your oil is that high you have a REAL issue. Just pull the tube and twist. It will come out. Cover the hole till the header is in place then put the tube back in. No need to change oil.

Depends on who made them. On my first set of equal lengths I had to jack the engine and bring it in from the bottom. One tube just stuck out too damn far.

mr gasket chevy header bolts. thats what i used. they work perfect. take the dip stick out and set it aside. drop the headers in at a 45* angle. ( obviously the cup flange to the firewall lol ) and lower it in. tiwst it to what side you may need to.

the dip stick is in there good trust me. i was in the engine bay pulling mine out. keep pulling and tiwst it side to side to losen it. it will come. ( dont use a hammer man )
