did. on my old 88. they came off the first time i had to do plugs and DID NOT get put back on. put mac shorites on it after that.

trust me. go get the chevy header bolts. you will have to buy 2 sets. best money i spent while doing my exhaust. they didnt back themselves out. fit snug. and easy to get on. they made by Mr. Gasket and there the only ones in there at autozone advance ect. in packs of 12.

i saw the bolts your talkn about they are like 6.99 or something i bought a set that is identical but a hair longer and have allen inserts...these will be just the same. maybe just some locktite?

you might have to shim the motor mounts to get the tubes to clear the steering shaft. i had to do that on my sn95.

thas my only other concern really i can get it in there even if the motor has to raise up some. but that steering shaft is going to be close!
and these are for sure 100% my headers!:
Mac Performance - performance accessories for cars, trucks, and motorcycles
i don not belive mac would make something that would cause to hit the shaft, but i don not have stock e7's nomore?/?? someone answer this??

i got the motor shimmed up and got the drivers side in now the steering shaft isnt clearing!!!!!!
i would like at least a quarter inch of clearance vs. the zero i have now! should i shim higher or dent the header a little bit?

I'm with ya on the shaft clearance, I can't stand a header to be close to the steering shaft, you could try to shim a little more or the only other option is to dent the header like you said, that means you will have to bring the header out to do that.

Now you know what a pain those equal length can be. I had one set of those and will never own them again, just too much of a PIA, straight shorty headers for me from now own.

Good luck with the clearance, it may take a little work but it can be fixed

yep! no more equal legths ever again, but they are on and locked in, had to dent the header and got 3/8+ clearance now, good enough i guess. now the emission stuff is hitting the passenger side header and the dipstick tube isnt going in the same??? why didn't these after market companies put more dedication into fitment! if this motor ever get pulled so are those headers!
but they arent leaking(yet>) and they made the pypes sound a little more deeper...
overall
not sure if this mod was worth my time and effort, car seems to have picked up a few horses. i know the stock headers were choking me up,but the fact that i have a shimmed up motor, dented header with minimal shaft clearance and emission stuff, along with the almost impossible to tighten header bolts, is not too my liking.

we will see how many miles till a leak/header gasket blowout

i had the same problem with the smog stuff.i rotated the smog tube with the dip in it and zip tied it to the other tube for more clearence.i also zip tied the ac line to the strut tower so it doesnt hit the header.it sounds rigged but i was able to do it so you dont see the the ties unless you really look. good luck and welcome to the i hate equal length header club. phil

if i was in your position i would either return or sell the mac's and get a set of BBK shorties... so much easier and you will see no noticable gain in power.

also, i know its a little late now... but why didnt you drop the midpipe and feed them through the bottom??

This is the price we pay for power. Now that you have it under your belt, next time do long tubes. More power and a better sound and it won't take any longer than this did.

yep! i agree, but these aftermarket companies make me laugh with some of there parts, what company truly benefits the diy mechanic anymore! i want to know!

i would put longtubes after this but then i would have to get a new midpipe and etc..not reallt feeling that? im satisfied with the car now....was before the mod but everyone was telling my stockers were choking me up...and for 90.00 for a nice used set i just had to do it! last performance related mod besides a CAI and muffler swap/ im done! Seriously!
im going to save my money! before this car makes me broke....i wish i wouldve have jus done gears and juice but this car is soooo addictive.....(as you all know)

hey ttop did you sell your blue ttop that was in your ol sig?
