I grew up in Durham and the interstate between Durham and Greensboro is notorious for being thick with Highway patrol. I remember when they first got the 5.0 pursuit mustangs! They'd shoot through the median, rip off the ground effects and get upside down as the air stream got under their car at speed. Ouch.
NC has run radar from "abandoned" cars for years. They used to do it on I40 in the mountains.
