I'm waiting on my T5 that I'm getting from a salvage yard to be rebuilt so I can do my AODE to T5 swap. I've read in many posts that if the Bearing Retainer is aluminum, it should be swapped with a steel one. A couple of questions:
1) If the tranny is a 94/95, should the Bearing Retainer already be steel? I've read that it should be steel.
2) If the Bearing Retainer is aluminum, how hard is it to replace? I've downloaded a T5 rebuild document that talks about pressing in a new oil seal and performing a preload shimming operation. If I have an assembled one, can I just unbolt the old one and bolt on the new one using RTV?
3) If things change and I end up using a pre-94 T5, is the bearing retainer a different size than the 94/95?
