The FFFW is coming up in Phoenix and I figured I may as well try to launch this car. Its a 99 with the factory blower and 3.73 gears. Any attempt to floor it in 1st blows the back tires out from under it. The tach hits 6500 and when you hit 2nd the backend fishtails like no other. I try to roll out from a dead stop steadly mashing the pedal but it still spins pretty hard by the time its floored. I know the track will be stickier but this is ridiculous. What blows me away is how much it spins on the 1-2 shift. I guess I could granny shift it, but what fun is that? Maybe some drag radials will help. The tires now are 295x18 Kumho. If I get a 2nd set of rims for Mickey Thompson ET radials what back space do I need? I'm thinking 16or17 x 8s with a 28" tall tire.
BTW, the tach redline is about 5800. Isn't there a rev limiter on the Saleen cars? I don't want to blow it up, but the motor pulls right past that in a glance at the boost gauge. What are you guys shifting your 2v motors at?
Lastly, any idea what ET I should be getting. I have a Chicane fuel pump and blower pulley, but I may as well baseline the car 1st. Thanks, Ron.
