I have been thinking of buying a newer car lately, and of course it will be a Mustang. I am use to my 5.0 and just wanted to know any common problems with the 4.6 cars. I have been looking at a nice '99 Black GT. Also what are the common 1/4 mile times for a stock 4.6 with an auto? Any other info you feel like sharing on the 4.6 let me know because I know nothing about the mod motors. Thanks

i can't think of any common problems right now except the problems wit the T3650 5 speed on 01+ cars. 5spds typically run low 14's with a few people hitting high 13's stock. the autos aer about 2-3 tenths slower.

what are your plans for the car? how fast would you like it to go?

lol I just recently traded my 5.0 in for a 98 gt this is my first 4.6. I have not started any mods so its still stock. The 98 is a real nice car but i still cant believe that i traded the 5 liter what i miss most about it is all the low end torque. The 98 seems to have more of a mid range and not the low.

4.6Ls respond to power adders alot better than the old 5.0s did , blocks are stronger in my opinion also . 96 to 98 models need a headswap to get the HP up , but 99 and newers stock for stock will take a 5.0 especially on top end . get that 99 , shift kit , gears , sticky tires and spray 100 shot and 12s wont be a problem at all .
