Has anyone taken theirs and grinded down the stop so that it has more adjustment? Ever since bypassing my smog pump I haven't been able to run a belt more than 5 months without it squealing. Good idea??

I guess I don't really understand what grinding down that stop would do. there's already an area of adjustment, and I'd think you should be able to find a belt that fits in that area. Perhaps your tensioner is just worn out and is not providing enough tension?

What I did was buy a replacement idler pulley and put it in place of the tensioner pulley. My idler was hitting the stop and knocking, but now I've got over a 1/4" clearance between the tensioner and the stop.

Were the pulleys a direct swap? That seems like it would be a lot easier than my idea and I know that it has worked for someone.

I had to use a smaller washer, but otherwise it was a direct swap. Some parts store are selling ridiculously wide pulleys that won't fit, but the stock size will fit just fine.

I think it depends on if you have a 94 or 95 believe it or not. Mike, check out my thread and link to a pic of my stock idler..it looks nothing like yours and wont work.

My stock one looked like that, both of mine now are parts store replacements. Why doesn't it work? Does it hit on the tensioner somewhere?

The back of the pulley hits on the metal nub that it bolts into.

That's what I was afraid of...Mine is hollow on the back side of it, and it fits just fine...

I know I posted this in the other thread, but I'll post it again for milewsky80. This is the pulley you need...

I had to grind down the stops on my tensioner.. It gave me a bit more room to run a smaller belt..

I am Vortech Supercharged and the alt. is moved in and messes with the belts postion. Every belt I bought would stretch within 50 miles and rub against itself. I used gates, gator back and napa belts and they all would stretch atleast an inch... so grinding gave me the little bit of give I needed.
