When I bought my LX back in 1997, I never really used the AC. When I would use it, the cond. drip would not drip outside, rather in my car. I could hear it, and when I would make a turn (for example to my right) all the water would rush in on my feet. So, I took it to a shop and they told me that the firewall was bent from a previous accident. They told me it would cost a lot to fix but never explained to me what exactly needed to be done. I ended up disconnecting it and it has been that way for years now. Has anyone heard of this or have an idea of what needs to be done to fix this. This isnt my daily driver anymore, but I may go back to it full-time and will only do so if the A/C works. Thoughts anyone? Thanks.

Typically the drain for the condensed water will plug up for one reason or another. Bugs making a home in the drain, bits of sealant or even gobs of slime can plug it up. Blowing air or sticking a wire back though are typical methods of relieving the blockage. Too vigorous use of the wire runs the risk of damaging the evaporator or plumbing. Neither method is a permanent solution. The loose material that you succeed in dislodging from the drain often flows back into the drain and clogs it again. The fix is to remove the evaporator core, clean the inside of it's case, and clear the drain from the inside of the car.

It is inside the heater box next to the heater core. It is accesible but takes alot of time and patience to get to it. The dash needs to come out and you have to cut the heater box to remove the evaporator core. http://users2.ev1.net/~calley/Sally/heater_core/ that is a decent link that may help you know what we are talking about.
Nice, thanks for the link. I will definately use this when I get started. Looks like I got a little bit of a project on my hands. Has anyone, mechanically inclined or not, done this and if so, was it all that bad? And, from my first post, does it sound right that the mechanic said that my firewall was "bent" and this was my problem, or does it sound like I just need to do the fixes that have been suggested? Thoughts? Thanks guys.

first try squirting some compressed air into the drain or try pushing a coat hanger up there...it might just be blocked
