and i would love to see your graph.....from the numbers im guessing your running a smaller head and intake because you're tq numbers are alot higher then your hp.

yup intake is a cobra... heads are afr 185s

so back to my thread before it got jacked! what is a good company to buy a 331 short block with all forged internals for around 3000!!

Call chp to see what they have to offer.
But whatever you do, i wouldn't spend much on the internals, when the block is still going to be the limiting factor.

Ur looking at $4,500 for a brand new SHP Dart shortblock, and that's with a cast crank. I'm not quite sure why u want to get all forged internals in a stock block. Nice and pretty forged onternals will not ur stock block from splitting again. They will just be expensive collateral damage when it happens.

If a stock block splits at that hp level then there was something else wrong or it already had a crack in it. Once these blocks are seasoned and are machined and built correctly there is no reason it could not take 500+ to the rear. Revving to 7K is another story.

Exactly as the last guy said. You're not talking about NA power because it's not the power that causes the split, if it even splits. You are only talking about RPM. Thing is, other **** breaks before the block splits, unless you've got good parts.

You are wasting your time/money, you wont find one that cheap and there is something wrong with your combo. You probably had detonation, so figure the problem out... Take the bearings out and look at the head gaskets for detonation. If you dont know how to do it, go to a machine shop and see if they can see signs of detonation on the bearings.

Your best bet, if using a stock block, would be to go to a JY or find a friend with a stock shortblock and put oyur stuff on that. It will handle as much power as a 306, 331, 347, dosent matter. Just dont waste your money unless you are buying a dart or R block.

Dart sells SHP short blocks for like 4k, that would be the cheapest way to go, but you should be able to get a stone stock shortblock to last for a long time on 412 rwhp

That's pretty much how i feel when talking about a supercharged engine.
NA is a different story obviously because you need the extra Cu. to make the power.

Explorer engines are the best thing to have ever happened to the 5.0 community.
$500 engine, sell off the top end for $300 and you now have a $200 shortblock that will put up with 400 rwhp.

Expensive internals in the stock block just makes no sense.

and like i said im not saying that u can't run 400 or 500 rwhp but they do break in those horsepower levels it's a fact.

Im making 510 at 5500 with 12 psi, so i guess 400 is possible!

I know of a guy on corral that dynoed a 9:1 Dart 331/AFR 185 which made 415hp/410tq at the wheels. He built the engine for boost but it ran so well in N/A form that kept it that way.

take the caps off one with a cast crank thats been run hard and then take the caps off of one with a forged crank that has been run hard. cap walk is what breaks blocks.
