BEST LAPTOP TUNING SOFTWARE

Alright guys, my friend is starting to delve into the world of laptops and programming. He has a probuilt 306, AFR 165s, etc, etc. the car runs bottom 12s high 11s as it is. He is in the military so he has little access to the net. He will be returning in late July and plans to purchase an ATI set up for 12-15 lbs of boost. He wants to be able to tap in and totally control and manipulate the factory processor. Which software packages are out there that can allow him to do this and show all data in graph and chart form. I know Anderson Motorsports makes something BUT I am not sure the name or whatever. I do believe, however, that there are several other manufacturers out there that have software that will do this. Does anyone kow of any packages that will allow him to do this? Any input would me much appreciated.

Do you use either of these? This is crazy, he almost has the exact same setup as you even with the flowtech cam. He has NEVER hit an 11.3 though. I have seen 11.9s and all over the 12s and 13s out of him but never that low. Good times for so little cubes.
 
I know of many people that have had good results with the PMS- although it does not require a lap top. Same with the Crane interceptor (same as PMS). People here in StangNet have had good things to say about the tweecer, however, almost everybody agrees that it's a little complicated. There's a lot of stuff to play with.

Is this a graphical interface or a handheld digital interface?
 
Not sure what to tell you. It works ok for me from the thread...you can go to Yahoo www.yahoo.com) and find Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com or http://autos.groups.yahoo.com) and search for eec-tuner and find it manually...this is a hard core group of people who delve into the programing and code of the EEC. Not for the faint of heart. I understand the EEC pretty well and I don't post there-just read and search. They have lots a great info. Especially if you are having trouble sleeping! Read about fuel curve tables for 30 mins and you will be out cold....

There are some great folders under the "files" link once you are signed in and have joined that group. Like there is one on setting up the A9L to control an electric fan. And other stuff you wouldn't immediatly think of.
 
I have a twEECer and it is probably one of the best mods I have ever done (besides adding 45 extra cubic inches). It requires a laptop to modify your EEC. It is very complicated, but you can literally change EVERYTHING. For example, my stock 94 GT computer now thinks its a Cobra computer but with the more aggressive timing and fuel curves from a GT. You dial in the exact numbers for your MAF, set your own idle speeds, fan speeds, CID, you name it and with the twEECer you can do it.

It helps quite a bit being a featherweight (2700lbs) and with the suspension mods I have. I haven't used the products...considered it, but I'm not a drag racer that has to compensate and tweak in response to track and atmospheric conditions. I simply had my tuner burn a custom chip as I probably won't be doing much more with my 306 and probably won't miss the 5-15 HP on the road course.
 
i like the tweecer cause I basically have the ability to burn a new chip myself whenever something changes as far as mods go. The problem with the tweecer is knowing what to actually change in the fords eec. There isn't a how to book or indepth instructions on what to do, the best thing is to read fords 1000 page epec manual so you have an idea on what to do.

Word of advice is if you go for the tweecer get the r/t version so you can get realtime feedback and tune it properly.
