Ok I am looking to supercharge/turbocharge my 99 GT. I just raced a 02 TA WS6 with filter lid and cat back. I actully got him off the line threw the first three gears and once I hit 4th it was bye bye for me. I want to be able to just plain leave him and any other GM car in the dust. What should I get. Procharger, Supercharger, turbo kit? I want the cheapest best bang for the buck kit out there. Let me know thanks.

cheap and supercharger/turbo do not go hand and hand! If cheap is what you want then look at nitrous. Now if 3800 is cheap to you then you need to look into a KB supercharger, or a mongoose kit from modular powerhouse. I would say KB for the street though.

A procharger has come with an intercooler and is about $3500. The 3800 KB is a 6PSI NON intercooled kit, as well as the mogoose kit. The procharger is the way to go. if you car has that much power to hold a lid/CB LS1, then a procharger should up you to around 380RWHP with 8#s. You would probably equal the new C6 corvettes. And beat every T/A or camaro except the full bolton with a cam LS1s. You really cant get over 380 out of the ls1 W/O a HCI setup. Some can hit 400 with everything but heads, but its pretty rare...most adverage in the 360-370range.

Well yea 3500 is cheap compared to the 6000+ I was planning on spending on a turbo kit. Now I have heard good and bad things about the kenne belles. Fellow stangers in my town that have S/C cars with the KB's either say its the best investment or it was the worst. They say that the low to mid is overwhleming but it falls flat on its face in the top. Like I said I want the most complete kit with tuner chip, MAF, fuel pump and the S/C setup without spending more than 4500. But yea I am really suprised in my GT. I pulled the motor last month and ordered a brand new longblock from a reman company so its all stock motor, with trick flow upper 04 Gt lower, MAC TB, CAI, pullies, timing adj, x pipe and cats. The look on the guys face was like WTF? I can not explain it either but it runs extremley hard for a sohc. Yea is was thinking the procharger would be the way to go. Kenne belle is a nice setup but I spent my money on the intakes tbs ect and dont wanna just throw that all away.

Oh, so you planned on spending 6K too huh? I want the HP TTs (spring 07) but I noticed you said cheap, so that why I said the ATI would be good. Its will make more HP than the 6PSI KB or the mongoose with a good tune. BUT the TTs are simply AWSOME, and you can keep all of your intake mods, besides the CAI. And whats awsome is that you cant even tell it has turbos because they are mounted behind the bumper...all you see is a crome pipe going down the federwell...looks like you have a fenderwell CAI.

Yep I want the same kit. Maybe if I sell my fox body I could get it lol. One of my friends has the kit on his viper. Lets just say sitting in the passenger seat of 900+ hp and over 1000 ft lbs in stock trim is INSANE. Yea they will think you just have a CAI until those suckers start whining. Personally I have not heard a turboed modular but I bet with full exhaust it would sound pretty darn mean!

i was thinking you wanted this for street use thats why i said KB. Stop light to stop light it will destoy a centrifigal blower. But if track or long runs are your thing then go with a good centi like a novi 2000. It can grow with you as your budget grows. Or just shell out the 6-7k for the TT's cause thats gonna be the one that kills the camaro's and most vettes.

yeh, i think there is a used vortech sq for 1500 over at mustangtuning's classified section...you would still have to get a fuel pump and injectors(and preferably,a dyno tune)

?????? I think your fellow stangers are smokin' crack, especially if one has a KB and says it "falls flat on its face in the top". KB's have a flat power curve, look at anyone's dyno sheet. They pull hard all the way to redline, same pull all the way to the top. If you stand on it and start shifting, you are at redline in 4th gear in no time. One of our guys in our warehouse has a WS6, and I have no problem with him at all.

Non-roots/twin screw SCs power curve ramps up as motor speed increases, and can possibly surpass what a KB can do (this argument goes on and on....) TT's are a different story, but they are also in a quite different price range.

If you want the best "street" setup for a decent price, the 9LB IC KB is the way to go. I spent over a year reading forum after forum, taking what everyone says with a grain of salt. Talking to numerous performance shops, and riding in cars with all kinds of power adders, and in my opinon the KB wins hands down. I could not be happier with mine, and have never heard a KB owner say much different.
