Best wax to use on a new car

Just bought a new 07' GT and am curious as to what type of wax to use. I bought Meguires gold class paste. Is that cool to use?

I've used Meguiars Gold Class, NXT, Zymol and at least 10 others. I only use Zaino on the Mustang as it's in a different league in terms of keeping the shine and repelling dirt.

Meguires is good OTC products to use. I use Zaino or Klasse these are sealants not wax and have to be order on line.

In my opinion its not all that important what wax you use, but that you wax it....on a regular basis.

I disagree about the part that it is not all that important what wax you use. If Consumer Reports says that a wax tends to scratch or haze, then I do not use it.

You really shouldn't wax a brand new car for at least 6 months (better if a year) from when it is built. Reason being is that the paint/clearcoat is still drying up in that time. Waxing during this critical time will cause the clearcoat to bubble up prematurely and fall off. At least this is the theory I heard anyways.

I usually though don't wax the car, I just use Meguiar's quick detailing spray after a nice hand car wash. Lasts for a few and won't drain you as much as the elbow grease required for a good wax job. (plus you can take it with you when moments require the extra bling factor)

I like the Turtle wax ICE. Especially if I'm in a hury. Doesn't leave any white residue on the plastic pieces and on and off easy and can be applied in the sun.

Speaking of residue on plastic pieces, what do you guys use to get it off. I try not to get wax on black plastic, but am usually not successful. Haven't really found anything that cleans it off completely.

What product(s) have you tried to remove the wax?

I use Griot's Garage Dried-On Wax Remover. It's fairly good, but I would certainly be interested in trying something else.

removing wax from plastic

I heard all kinds of things on a Lightning forum I used to be on-peanut butter, WD40, etc., what worked was straight Dawn and a little brush. Wax gone and be more careful or use ICE or tape it. I use Cherry wet to shine mine-vehicle that is.

For wax on plastic/ABS: liquid detergent and brush as mentioned above.

I use 3M perfect-It foam polishing pad glaze compound...Followed by 3M perfect-It show car paste wax..

For quick detailing, I'll either use Meguiar's quick spray detailer...Or bead-X spray detailer..

What I really like about Bead-X is...It can be used in direct sunlight, and can also be used on glass surfaces as well..

I've used it now for almost a year Makes all the darker colors really stand out plus can be applied in direct sunlight. I've only applied it by hand so I'm sure it could look even better by machine.
