Best way to tint tailights?

Suggest vinyls, tint,or what?

My car had the APC clear euro's on it when I bought it Never liked em but have spent money elsewhere on the car. Maybe it's cheapest to black em out or tint em?

Yeah you can use vinyls.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD...014QQitemZ330182771432QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Tail...013QQitemZ230185413988QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

etc... If those tail lights are easy to crack open (being cheap APC's my guess would be yes...lol...plus they probably need sealed up better anyway hah) I would use spray tint like VHT's Nite-shades - like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VHT-...019QQitemZ290174168456QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW, or you can use "model" spray tint for maybe a better or different finish - like this stuff from Testors http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHH02&P=FR or this stuff from Pactra http://www.ehobbies.com/pac294.html.

If you tint them you'll still be able to tell they are euro's. So you might as well buy some used OEM lights off ebay. That's what I would do. If you paint them, what's done is done. And if you get pulled over, you're screwed.

What if tinted euros look good though? It's cheaper than buying new lights and if the OP doesn't like the, new lights are always a possibility

Night shades....buy some extra tail lights if you dont want to have trouble with inspection or anything. I sprayed night shades on my tails..they're pretty much black but when lights on they become real transparent. Looks the best too.

Well to go back to what The98stang said, I have been pulled over 3 times (no tickets *knock on wood*) and i had (key word had) a tinted licence plate frame WTIH "Custom painted tail lights".. he told me that i should take off the licence plate so that if my car is stolen they can see the plate..
Then said NOTHING about the tail lights lol.. Its not like he didnt see them or something.. so i dont know..

I had a friend of mine (Turbo98gpt) paint my lights and they look sweet!!!

Which is no longer applicable since they have been modified. Not every cop/inspection station is dumb.

Plus if you get rear ended you can be found partially liable for modified safety equipment.

Just something to be aware of. Depends on how strictly the laws are enforced in your area. Just because one cop doesn't bother you about a mod doesnt mean every cop in the country is the same way. Same goes with any illegal mod on our cars.

I used the pre-cut smoked vinyl tints from american muscle. Alittle expensive but looks alot cleaner then the spray stuff IMO

Here's a pic of mine (DSG) compared to the stockers.....

theyre dark during the day but at night they clear up and the taillights are very visible so I get no problems with cops. also they dont have that haziness that the spray stuff does.

when they are sprayed 95% of cops or inspection stations have no clue it can even be done, you point out the ford embossed logo on the light and the DOT and suddenly its a diff story.your chances of a cop realizing what has been done to the light is very slim, never ever had a problem with mine and i have been stopped my fair share for other things.they are dark when the lights are off but as soon as they are turned on its just like normal.

I'd get some stock lights from a junk yard.
