I was on a quest to get into the 12's this weekend, but my traction loc had other ideas. No matter what I tried I couldn't get both tires to spin in the burnout box, and I couldn't get my 60 foot under 2.0 with well-worn Nitto DR's. My best ET was

60 foot: 2.05
ET: 13.10
mph: 107.1
1/8: 8.4
mph: 86.2

My traction loc, clutch and T-5 all have over 165,000 miles on them, so its probably time for a new drivetrain.

Previous best time with a 20-30 mph headwind
13.24@104.7 1.94 60 foot

Way to go man
I had problems last year at the track as well. The clutch/flywheel were just totally finished. Kept me from breaking 13's on stock engine. For this year, the tranny has been opened up, al the synchros are perfect, new spec stage2 clutch and a brand new flywheel. Wish I'd rebuilt my rear-end though....

Next time you'll see 12's

Not bad for only having one drive wheel. I can almost guarantee that everytime you go out for the next few times you will get quicker and quicker. Hell, I'm still getting quicker almost everytime I head out to the track! WTG, and your 1/8th mile is right where mine normally is on my 110+ runs. How was the air quality? WHat is the elevation? These really effect the 1/8-1/4 mile part of the run.

I wish I could have gone to CFR, but I couldn't miss my company picnic.

Weather was nice, 75 degrees, not too humid, ~5 mph sidewind, the track is on the flatlands of Illinois, couldn't find the elevation.

My last 13.1 run, I got beat by a Neon who ran 12.9. That was so frustrating, but then I saw him pumping race gas into his car and I felt a little better.

Yea, definitely. I'll be heading to CFR either late July or early August.

AFR= Air Flow Research
165= cc's of the intake port. They make a variety of sizes from non CNC'd 140cc all the way up to 225cc ports.

Somethings going on with your car upstairs. I run 86 in the 1/8 and trap about 109 and thats with the bad lean condition I was having. I remember on your dyno, the car was nose diving kinda early, thats probably your problem. I wonder if an rpm upper would help along with a bigger TB? I know thats what ed recommended for my car and we have very close set ups. Its nice to see that your improving though!

My trap speeds have always been low. When I had intake, TB, MAF, gears and full exhaust I only trapped 96mph. Do you think maybe I'm reving it too high, or not high enough? My tach is probably way off. 13.1@107mph was my best, but I had alot of 105mph trap speeds running mid 13's.

I've been looking on E-bay for a cheap RPM upper, but haven't had too much luck. I figured if Killercanary is running 12.3's with a Performer I should be OK.

Killer's combo is different, you can't really compare, but I see what you're getting at. Did you ever try putting little more timing in it? With the chip, your probably running 10* base, try 12* and see if the car likes it. Your car has a lot more et/mph in it. We have close set ups, but you actually make a touch more mid range than I do, but my power band up top extends a little longer than yours. I definatly think an rpm intake will help you along with a 75mm TB. You could hold off on the TB if money is tight. Definatly try more timing though.

I'm thinking about doing a new motor, but I would like to get a decent time before I do that. When I get the money, my next mods is gonna be a new tranny (my t5 is dying) and see what I can pull now that i'm pretty sure my lean problem is gone!

I dynoed with my base timing at 10 degrees, but I ran the ET with timing at 12-13. maybe that hurt me?

Gotta bring your timing light to the track man, make a pass at 10*, then one at 12*. Compare mph and keep the timing set to whatever gets you more mph.
