went down to the local tire company today to look at some 275/40/17
bfg ta kdw's to replace the wore out kumho 712's(255/45/17's) that I have on my 17x9 chrome cobra wheels as of now..... once I saw 1 in person
compared to the Kumho, I realized that the 275 is just too faaaat to put on
the front ... now I dont know if I should just go all 255's or do 275's on
the back and 255's on the front,........ I guess my ? is- Are the drawbacks to
having different size tires on the front and rear worth it? I like the looks
off fat in the back skinner in the front.

Can't rotate your tires and it will increase the built in oversteer that all Mustang's have.

if you are running 17x9's, then the 275's are what should fit them perfect. Thats the stock size for the 03/04 Cobra's, and they run the 17x9 rims. I am running the KDW's in 275 on all 4 corners and love them! Can't beat them for the price!

I'm running them also on Cobra R 17x9's and the only drawback I've had of running 275's on front is the "rail road" effect that occurs. That means that the tires will follow ruts and what not in the roadway.

Oversteer? So what you're saying is the rear end is going to slip out easier with different size tires in the rear? I don't quite get it. The fronts are turning more than the rears (if you have a larger rear tire). That to me doesn't logically make sense that the rear would kick out.

yeah, I dont want any kind of straight line tracking problem, cause I do
lots of highway drivin.

Barnaby: I was wondering because I was trying to apply my dirt car physics to that and it didn't add up right I have to apply everything to my dirt car because that's the only time I either push or oversteer Sometimes in the stang I oversteer but that's all from throttle control. I don't think I take turns fast enough to be bothered with too much of that.

streethorse: I would do stockers on the front then. Keep in mind too that your rear will hydroplane faster than you front end will with the 275's. You will have to slow down. It's easier to feel the front hydroplane than the rear. I found that out a curb too late.
