I have an 87 GT 5.0 with around 125,000 miles on it. I was comming back from the shore on the turnpike cruising in 4th doing about 90 and my car jerked out of no where, my RPM's dropped and then went back up briefly but my electrical system stayed on. It happened about 3 or 4 more times. I finally got home and checked everything by eye ( Wires, pluges, etc ) no problems there. I have a small vacuum leak but cruising that leak should'nt have caused that my car to do what it did . what could've happened? HELP ME OUT PLEASE !

Dump the codes and see what the computer says is wrong…

Here's the link to dump the computer codes with only a jumper wire or paper clip and the check engine light, or test light or voltmeter. I’ve used it for years, and it works great.

...

My foot wasn't on the clutch at all. I have a feeling that there was either a misfire or a water pocket in the fuel?

Sounds like classic TFI module to me -- don't expect to see a code for it or have it test bad, it will just strand you somewhere at the worst possible time.
