Blinking lights at startup?

I have a 88gt with mass air conversion and there is no check engine light but the other day when I started my car the dummy lights on the right of the steering column would flash until I gave it a little gas then go away when I drive. Only does it every now and then. I have an o/r h pipe with no cats(and of course no o2 sensors), is this the problem? I know it could be lots of things but if anyone has had the same thing happen please let me know what caused yours to do this. Thanks

how is your charging system? if you are dipping too low at idle, that can make stuff go funky.

Yea mine started to do that yesterday. it only does that when its really cold out. Once i put any of the lights, it turns right off, but if i turn them off they come back on. I wouldn't mind knowing what causes this too, it hasnt done this since last winter.

why dont you have o2 sensors?
