I haven't been reading these forums for a while, so if I'm about the thousandth person to comment on blizzaks or snow, forgive me
Anyway, I suffered through last winter with the stock 17s and some crappy half bald "performance" tires. Not to sound like some wannabee or something, but I've raced dirt tracks for a while now and I'm able to control my car and make it do what I want it to do. Well, last winter here in NE Ohio was one of the worst I can remember, and my car wouldn't go ANYWHERE. I'd get stuck in parking lots, streets, and even going up the interstate one day when everybody else was moving along fine.
Sooo, I broke down and bought some silver 15" 2000 v6 wheels for $100 on ebay. They actually look pretty good on my white 97 gt. Then I got a set of 205/65/R15 Bridgestone Blizzaks WS-50 for $75 a piece.
Holy crap, That was the best $400 I've ever spent
I drove around today in the 7-8 inches of snow we got here in Ohio, and the thing drove like a dream. No problems whatsoever. Takes off great, corners great, and stops great. I even went to an unplowed lot and had absolutely no problems. I'd compare it to driving on wet pavement with performance tires on. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that it went from being the worst car ever to one of the best cars I've ever driven in the snow.
Anyway, to stop my rambling, if you're driving in the winter, get some Blizzaks! It'll make you and everybody around you a ton safer in crappy weather.
