the stang i just bought have the vacuum for the EGR valve just blocked off. some people say its useless. ive heard its for cooling something or other?
help me out here? should i put it back?
My 90GT has a closed loop system for EGR, it uses an EVP to control the vacuum to the EGR and senses the position of the EGR valve. If the system doesn't work right it should throw some codes. Is your check engine light on, or does your PCM show any codes, if not your probably ok. If so you may not get full performance. It is best for the environment for all the original smog stuff to be on and working properly. In California we have no choice with smog checks every two years.
The coolant lines to the throttle body need to be left on as they cool the EGR. The vacuum only operates the EGR valve.

smog pump and all that **** is GONE from my fox.
and i posted another thread about the codes it gave me today.
gave me 4 different codes.. nobody looked them up for me so far
Hey staticc, Don hit it right. The emission system is designed to work all together. However here in FL where there is no emission check you can probably get away with it. On mine I have the crossover blocked at the heads so I have no egr on mine. Ive disconnect all the vacuum hoses and yes the check light is glowing britely. The only reason I unhooked all that stuff is because some of it was bad and I didn't want to spend the money to relace it, but its best left on if its working
