Roush Blower Chirp?? Bearings?

Does anyone else get a "chirping" sound from their blower after letting off the gas? When I accelerate (getting into boost) and the let off the gas, I get a "high pitched flutter" or "chirping" from the blower? I've popped the hood, and manually acuated the thottle, and I can tell it's coming from the Blower snout.

I'm concerned that I have bad bearings. Is there a way to re-oil or grease the blower bearings?

Anyone else have this issue?

Under decelleration you will get the sound from the bypass valve. It will sound like fluttering. It will only happen when the car is under boost. If you have a noise near the snout then you need to remove the blower belt and check for end play. if you can move the snout up and down then there is a problem. generally though when the bearings go out you will notice a drop in boost from normal. It will also have a louder metal on metal sound. It may also leak oil out the front. There probably isn't anything wrong unless you are seeing less boost.

Almost every Series II blower I have seen has some play in the pulley. It's very common. As far as the "chirping" sound you may only need to change the pulley to eliminate it.

Call Joe at Chicane for a new pulley and additional advice.

After talking to others (and reading Animals post), I've come to the conclusion that it's the boost bypass valve, as they describe the sound exactly. That, plus It only occurs during decel. If it did it during idle or even acceleration, then I'd be concerned about a mechanical issue.

Since my Lightning doesn't make that noise (with a similar blower), I became concerned. I didn't even know that the Saleen blowers had a bypass valve (I just bought it 2 weeks ago), but I'm slowly learning the various quirks of the Saleen.

FWIW, I already have a Chicane blower pulley on it.
