Bought a '97 Saleen, automatic trans with an aftermarket SVO blower and MSD ignition box. Car stopped running, local mechanic said the computer got wet so he replaced that, and also removed the MSD box at the same time. Now the car seems to not run as smooth as before, at least when accelerating hard from a rolling start. It amost seems to "hit a wall", or have a slight misfire when giving it lots of throttle.
With a 6 lb pulley (I think it's 6) can the stock computer keep up without being reprogrammed? Or should I seek out a tuner? I think the computer is a stock GT4.6. I work the same business hours as the mechanic so I can't get to talk to him much, but I'm taking the car in Tuesday night after work to have him drive it again.

IMO call these guys, and do what they say.. running a blower car on a bad tune can kill the engine, definately get it tuned ASAP.

You need to get a dyno tune and i would also suggest looking to see which injectors you have (color) and maybe adding a larger fuel pump. Biggers versions come with the blower kit but that doesn't automatically mean they made it onto your car.

FYI
Those blowers respond well to a smaller pulley/90mm LMAF/ and Dyno Tune...and Blower Cams really wake them up.

I e-mailed the address on their web site and it came back to me as not a working
address, but keep the advice coming.
What is a reasonable price for a tune. and is it necessary to do it on a dyno?
Thx,
Mike

If the car is falling on it's face like that and misfiring (backfiring?) it sounds like the car is running rich. In any case you really really need a dyno tune. My tuner charges about $100/hour and your looking at about 4-5 hours for a tune including setting the car up on the rollers and taking it off if there are no complications.

Try calling them, they're in a temporary shop while their new shop is being squared away.
