The head gasket on my 1994 V6 Stang just went, just like all the others at 70K! And it turns out the engine blew when the gasket went. I only have about $2000-$3000 bucks to put a new engine in.That would need to be done at a garage. I just have a few questions.
What would be my best option for replacing my engine? Rebuilt, Remanufactured, New, Used?
Also should i upgrade to a bigger engine? Would it be worth it? Would i have to swap my Manual Tranny to do it? Keep in mine i only have $3000 max. Any ideas? Thanks

Now would be a nice time for a split port swap while your at it. If the above 4.2 setups are too much for ya, check out the crate motor section @ www.rpm-mustangs.com and see what he has for your budgetary needs. I think you could get a 3.8 shortblock that will drop right in with your existing top end components for around $1,700. Its at least worth looking into...

Yeah The piston went right through the bottom of the block, because coolant may have filled one of the cylinders. I brought it in for the gasket work....but the mechanic found that the engine blew when the gasket went...Just bad luck I guess. So im stuck buying a new engine. I just wanna know if i should get a rebuild or new or remanufactured...what are the basic differences? Or should i use the oppurtunity to upgrade to a bigger engine...if i can still use my tranny?

Sorry, bro. Take your 2k - 3k and use it as a down payment on a 99+ with a 5 speed... That's what I'd do...

If you want a warranty I'd say go Jasper like I ended up doin. I've still got a warranty on mine and its been runnin great. Only downside is that you don't get any extra power, but I like the peace of mind it comes with. They cover parts and up to so much labor for 3yrs/75K miles I believe. Unless you can do the stuff yourself, trying to upgrade or what have you may be too expensive, but you'll just have to check into it more.

grab a 5.0 from ebay for $700 max and drop her in. YOu could find all you need on ebay at affordable prices...stands, engines, harnesses, and computers...
