Blue fuzzy stuff on negative terminal..

so does anybody know why.. about every week.. one might have this blue fuzzy junk growing on my battery terminal, just the negative one? its kinda weird, and have no idea why this would occur. thanks

There is a crack allowing battery acid to seep up around the terminal... Thats what happened to mine. You can try to clean it up real good and put some dielectric grease on it and see if that helps

hmm.. alright.. well thanks for the info. it def looks kinda funny tho, just hope it isnt anything serious

Yeah just corrosion. To help stop or slow it clean the terminals with battery terminal cleaner and a brush - then use some of this stuff http://www.hectorshardware.biz/shop/product.asp?dept_id=321&sku=571504&

so many cars that come into my work have this(ford dealer). my mustang had it. my mom's grand marquis has is bad. i just spray it off and put on the protector stuff, i have the felt pads on there alone with the plastic covers.

Basically it is terminal rust. No biggie. You can pour a Sprite on it or some baking soda to neutralize the acid then add the dielectric grease to prevent it from reoccurring.

I never knew that sprite was basic. Always assumed it was acidic like coke - same carbonic acid equilibrium. Good to know.

It is acidic but it cuts the acid rust on the terminal. Plus you can drink what's left.
