blue smoke out of tailpipes???

i have blue smoke coming out of my tailpipes only after i drive my car after its been sitting a while...it only happens for the first few times i step on it and then it doesnt do it again, happens at part and wot only...what could this be...

burnt oil. If it accumulates while it sits that usually means it something like a valve guide leak: when your valve doesn't seal properly snug to the head's valve guide and oil slips down the glide after letting the car sit awhile so it accumulates a bit in the combustion chamber then burns once u start the car.

Could also be piston rings causing some blow by

You're burning oil, it could be the valve seals, but seeing as you're blown, my guess would be blowby

is this unsafe???
it only happens if car sits for a while maybe few hrs and only when i step on it half or WOT for the first couple times then i can beat on it as much with no smoke...

Is it safe for what? Your car is probably making less power now as there is oil along with fuel and air in the combustion chambers. You also need to start checking oil levels more since your burning more. Last...start saving for a rebuild ;-)

Just check the oil level more often, you probably have a valve seal issue..

Check the compression on the motor when it's hot and see if you have full compression if you do then I would not worry about it until it's time to replace the motor.

I agree. Just install an oil seperator and run straight 30w oil.

If it's doing it after only sitting for a few hours, then you are burning oil. You are either getting it through the PCV (run your finger on the inside of the throttle body to see if there's a build up), or piston rings. It COULD be valve seals, but I seem to remember the 4V's having that problem more than the 2V's.

If you let the car sit at idle for awhile and then it does it then it is most likely the PCV..
