boring over ?? stroker kits??

hey all i got another question for you guys. what exactly does it mean when your engine is bored over? is it the same thing as a stroker kit? im guessing they just increase the cylinder chamber so more fuel and air can get in, but can someone explain in detail?? thanks

There are two messurements that decide what your cylinder displacment is, your bore and stroke. Bore is the diameter of your cylinder (size of the hole) and the stroke is the distance your piston travals from TDC (top dead center) to BDC (bottom dead center). When you bore and engine over, let's say .030, you increase the size of the hole by .030. When you stroke a motor, you change the offset distance between your main journal to your rod journal, which decides what your stroke is.

6stang7 hit it pretty solidly. If you are not technically minded and do not understand what he meant about the offset he's talking about, just check out his avatar. When you stroke a motor, the piston will just move deeper down the cylinder than it normally would.
