Hey 03/04 pro's - I put my Stinger catback on today, gotta say I love the quality and the sound is amazing! I reved it up a bit, and my son said a flame shot out when I let off! Anyone have any ideas why? I did not reset my computer yet by the way, but I will later

peace

You still running the factory Hpipe?

The PCM or computer and its factory tune tend to dump lots of fuel at the top end of the RPM band, so when you abruptly let off the throttle, it causes the "un-burnt" fuel to ignite downstream in your exhaust pipes. Don't lose any sleep over it, it's perfectly normal... :)

If you were running an off-road midpipe you would be able to reproduce this condition quite often! LOL

I still have the factory H pipe - I think Im going to stick with it too. I didnt like the x pipe sound on my 98. Anyways, it seems to be gurgling ALL the time on decel, not just in the upper rpm range. Just normal cruising, let off to coast - and it gurgles . Sounds completely awesome mind you, but should I be worried? I didnt want to mess with the tune at this point...

Mine gurgles too, I also have a 96 but I'm sure it couldn't be much different. Don't worry about it

Tat98 Cobra,

I have a offroad h-pipe with flows on my 03 cobra, and it gurgles to the point like no return. When I get on it, you can really smell the unburnt fuel coming out the exhaust, as well as a popping sound sometimes, and I was told because our cars come so rich from the factory that this is normal under the factory tune. I was told that if you put a cold air intake (K&N FIPK) that you have on, that it can lean you out. Have you had you A?F ratio checked since the K&N install? Peace!

Gurgling huh? Hi, welcome to stangnet, and i'm happy to say you own a V8. If you want a monotone humming exhaust, get a civic. Otherwise enjoy your deep throaty glub glub glub. ;)

thx for the insightful information - welcome to Stangnet to you as well...

redfire03 - I have not gotten an A/F check yet, I may do so this weekend. That will determine if i buy the predator or not.

Tat98 cobra,

I am getting my A/F ratio checked this weekend. Let me know what your is, since I want to buy the K&N FIPK, but if it leans you out, and need a tune, then I will hold off.

I dont think the K and N leaned me out, but I have a feeling the exhaust may have. Maybe its me, but it seems seat-of-the-pants wise that I lost some low end power. Maybe it needs more fuel down low now because it wants to make more HP, but cant because of the factory tune. Im wondering if a Predator may be on my list soon....I was hoping I wouldnt have to alter the tune with just the 2 mods..
