Boss 429 shock tower assemblies

I did a google search looking for information on Boss 429 shock towers when I stumbled across this on Dynacorn's website:

Is Dynacorn considering making the Boss 429 shock tower assemblys anytime soon? They would be GREAT for any 67-70 Mustang that needs more room around the engine for FE Big Block, standard 429-460 or Boss 429 installs. The tower braces are all avaliable, but actual shock towers and shorter control arms (and any ancillary items) are not being reproduced from what I can find. Jon Kaase is releasing new Boss 429 engines and wouldn't it be great if they were a drop in in a mustang? I want to create one of these clones and this is the missing link. What a GREAT option this would be for your replacement body shells! Thank you!

I got the exact same answer on early 68 qtr panels with the indented marker light (or was that 67? whichever one had the indent...) over THREE years ago, so don't hold your breath. We ended up cutting the indented section from another qtr panel and grafting it in.
These shock towers can still be found, spring and fall Columbus Ford swap is a good resource. You may have to buy a whole parts car for this. THere are a couple on Ebay now that are rusted project cars. That would still be an expensive way to solve the problem though...maybe some others will have better suggestions for you.
 
IIRC, the boss 9 towers are really only modified earlier fairlane towers grafted onto the mustang chassis. do some research on them and you can probably find out exactly which towers they used. i can tell you for certain they were not special stampings or modified stock mustang towers, but were actually modified production car pieces (other than mustang). i'm not not aware if the UCA's are special stampings or modified production mustang pieces though.

it would be cool to build a clone of the "Shop Tips" Boss '9 or the Tasca Super Boss or a combination of the 2......basically a plain white wrapper like the Shop Tips car with the all aluminum 494 can am boss motor (built up with Kasse parts :nice:) and four link (or was it a ladder bar?) suspension from the Super Boss.....now that would be one hell a stealth street missile.....:jaw: show me your pink slips please........:D

I've been trying to find a credible source that identified what shock towers were used without success. I had heard back in the 80's that they were not Mustang shock towers, but I couldn't remember what kind they were.

I'd like more room in the engine bay and both of my rear aprons have lost the pressed in nuts for the hinges, plus the shock towers have rusted through where they weld to the aprons on both sides. I figure someday I'm going to have to replace everything, and if the Boss 9 stuff was available, why not? But as Barnstang suggested, I've stopped holding my breath.:rlaugh:

It makes sense to me that they might be Fairlane/Torino pieces. Not seen anything that says it but since the Boss 9s were originally supposed to go in those bodys, maybe. Then again I can be wrong.:shrug:
