i need some help here, i just took apart my 88 gt bottom end to replace the bearings, well to start the bearings were toasted along with the crankshaft, so i changed the crankshaft and the rod and main bearings, when i installed the main bearings the crank turned freely, then i installed the rod bearings and thats when my problem started, i cant turn it over at all, i marked all the caps when i removed them the only thing that i didnt do is i didnt notice which direction the caps went on, if im correct the notch on the back side of the rod cap bearing should be facing the opposite direction of the notch on the rod side right? could it be something else? the crankshaft that i installed was used but it looked perfect. could this be a problem? it came out of a running engine.

rod cap or caps are likely on backwards. It's easy to tell, there is a chamfer on one side of the bearing bore that faces the crank side. the un-chamfered side faces the adjecent rod, this is to clear the fillet radius on the crank. If backwards it will not clear and may even damage the crank.
