Well I was so disgusted with the show...

I will never watch that crap show again after the second part...

They make such issues and make things sound so difficult...

Did he really nedd to GO to TMI to look at interior? No

Is it a big deal to order ANY body panel that is rusted? NO

They add so much drama...

Then they fire about the only new guy that was minding his own business...for being a smart a$$ come on what about the rest of the so called team....

Such horrible programming...

If they showed strickly the build and real life issues...

And like the car would really start right up...

And don't even talk to me about the recklessness of the "breaking the horse"

Why turn a good rebuildable original engine into trash???

I don't know...

But I will finally be writing a letter / email to Discovery expressing my opinions on the quality of their programming, and the mello drama they create that is totally see-thru and bogus...

Yeah , a turn key barn find , they come along often. Boyd is a bit of a d%$khead. He was at Barrett Jackson this past spring , on the front row , just sitting there like a boil. No expression , no personality. But he makes some neat stuff.

I got mad when he blew up the motor. Almost changed the channel. Why didn't they fire Blue Bear???

The jerk that needed to be fired was "Blue Bear". The only reason the other kid got fired is because Boyd has to maintain his hardass image on the show....pretty sad and petty if you ask me. Boyd is a first class jerk and like all these reality based shows about this kind of work it doesn't take too long before "reality" gets suplanted with manufactured drama and acting for the camera....American Chopper comes to mind also. These shows are becoming stupid.

Yep, If it was my shop that Blue Bear would have been down the road on the 1st show I watched with the 55 Chevy. He needs to go back to High School shop class. And the sap they fired because the shop boss had a bad day was bogus too.

im pretty sure the whole barn thing was a setup which is kind of stupid but a car thats been sitting isnt going to fire up...period. They are a bunch of drama queens but ive spent some time in the shop and it does sometimes get a little testy

So a car that has been sitting isn't going to fire? I bought a 66 T-Bird once that had been sitting in Galveston for many many years right on the coast. It had been in a flood but at that time they had the fluids drained out of the engine/tranny/rear. It then sat for over 10 years. I dragged it home. Nothing worked. A few hours of playing and I had all the power windows worining. I cleaned the points and checked everything under the hood. I tried to start it for grins after putting some gas in the tank and priming the carb. It hiccuped a few times but as soon as the fuel pump started pumping it fired right up and ran fine except for some sqeaky accessory bearings. No one was more surprised than me..but it is quite possible. I bet they played with it for a while and then staged that scene but getting it running after sitting is not all that difficult if the engine was running normally before it was parked.

These guys are hot rod guys.....they don't fix up engines, they don't have the patience or imagination to make an original looking or hopped up original motor. They don't think about selecting engine internals at all. The most in depth they get is probably selecting the block, or bolting on a cool induction system. Instead, they take the easy route and they call up Ford Racing and order up a crate motor....who wants to take bets? They ruined the motor because they had no intention of using it again! Yeah, what a waste....

Even considering all that...I'd still rather watch it than Lifetime...cause at least sometimes you catch a glimpse of something cool, or something new you've never seen before.

Also, when you see some door knob on TV building this amazing car or bike, you suddenly realize, "Hey, I could do that!!"

i wouldnt have minded to burn the tires right off the rim ha ha i thought that was pretty cool. They had plans to dop in a new motor..like a 302 i think mayeb 351 but..why not you need to have a lil fun with projects....anyone else like watching them do the media blasting? i thought that was cool.

Why go through all that trouble to remove the shock towers, then install a 302? I did like the look of the firewall and fender aprons, but geeez- why don't they talk about the car? Great project, dumb show.

Yeah, it was doubly painful for me too watch last night, but I felt I needed a Mustang fix and some happy thoughts that maybe my car is not a total loss yet. Charlie is one of the only cool guys on the show, the rest are idiots and get worse the higher up the ladder you go. The biggest thing on my mind was the customer that wanted it in seven weeks. So now they are rushing and tensions are high, but the car is for sale online for $150,000!!!!!!! Um, hello? I hope we see the guy tell Boyd to go screw, then he'll be painting a dozen old lady's houses trying to reguild his image.

I have never liked that show since I first saw it. I do like American Chopper though, the characters are likeable and I really enjoy watching Jr. and Vinnie working together, the seem to be good buddies. As for Boyd's, I cannot think of one character that I actually like. I mean, if two guys were running around my hot rod shop shooting paint balls, they would both immediately be fired...it is just a bunch of hacks in there.

Pak, I am confident that you will be driving your vert again.

American HotRod is a load of crap. Sure they build nice cars but there is so much whining and complaining. I work in an industry where deadlines are important as well, so schedule and start a project with enough time to get it done and expect the difficulties that will come along. As for Boyd making the cars, I have never seen him do anything except draw pictures, sure he prolly has a lot of knowledge, but how can he expect some guys straght out of HS to do a certain quality of work, hire somebody qualified, or do it yourself. At that some of the qualified guys on the show are always screwing up, learn ho wto use the freakin machines for crying out load. Where were these guys trained? Another thing, Boyd draws one sideview picture and expects for everything to come out right the first time. I am good at drawing cars, maybe i should take Boyds job. At that they only put together stuff they get from somewhere else to build Boyds drawings. They contract out the body work, they buy crate engines, they order kits for everything. All they really do is paint, wheels, and machine the odds and ends. Then when something unexpected comes up, they cry about it, just order from some catalog, that what youre started doing in the first place. One show they were crying because a bit broke for some machine, if that was my shop, think I would have more than one freakin bit for a special machine.

you put gas in it....and messed with it. They just got in and turned the key.

Ah, I was not really watching because I was busy working on some stuff on the computer. I thought the first time they started it up was in front of Boyd's shop so I figured they had done some fiddling to get it to that stage.
