Well as alot of you know Saturday was a total wash-out. So I went home and kinda stewed about it for awhile and decided to go back on sunday and run the ET Bracket pro class. Ended up going a few round against some pretty heavy hitters in that class and finally redlit to a guy who ran a 12.658 on a 12.65 dial. His reaction time wasnt spectacular with an .076 but being dead on his dial I doubt I would have beat him anyway.
All in all not a bad day though and the weather was awesome, just figured I would share.

This was a good close race. I love giving big block cars almost a half second head start and beating them, good times.

What kind of times did you post Sunday? And judging by the pictures, you need an anti-roll bar set up in the rear of the car in the worst possible way! Looks great, but could pick up a tenth or two just getting that thing not to twist up.

Good job, EJ. I can understand your frustration. When we have good weather on Bracket Racing days, I am tempted to do the same thing. I just couldn't make it a weekly commitment.

Yea yea, I know it needs an anti sway. One of the main reasons I havent done that yet is I need to make sure which ever one I get clears my tailpipes. I like having tailpipes, especially since I no longer have an O.D. And actually all things considered it really isnt twisting as bad as it could.
As far as how it was running, not so great. 1st and second were not too bad but it kept laying over in 3rd till right before the line and then it would pick up. I did end up running a string of 10.90s with a 10.93@121 being my best. I tried tweaking it a bit but still could only get it to trap 123 which is still pretty far off of last years best of 128 and I couldnt do anything with the issue it was having in 3rd gear.
Oh well at least I got me a spot on the list and was able to get my fix after not racing since last july. Oh and the 1.46 60 ft showed promise too.

You could get some Lakewood Slapper bars, like mine. They negate the need for any other traction devices.

Slapper bars work good when you have stock control arms and have a wheel hop issue but an anti sway bar like a Wolfe bar helps to plant both tires equally. This also keeps the car from twisting which promotes long chassis life.

I think the bars do all of those things. Our cars make the same power. Have you ever seen mine twist? Just to make sure we are referring to the same thing:

Slapper bars are for carb'd bracket cars..... oh wait... j/k

Do the antiroll bar and be done with it. Just make sure you unhook one side before you go home.

Not a bracket car and I am not a bracket racer -and I have the really poor CCC performance to prove it!

Yea those are what I thought you were talking about and if you read that description it even says they aid traction by eliminating wheel hop. What I need is something to equalize the chassis coming down on the tires. You can have the most high tech of control arm set-ups but without something that kinda ties the two sides together or being able to individually adjust your damping (airbag, or shocks) it just isnt gonna happen.
And I dont know about the same power thing. Im thinking my car has a bit more weight and it has trapped 128. Also our torque is quite a bit different. Im trying to come off the line loaded on a transbrake with boost. To be honest Ive never watched your new car launch but it seems to work for ya. You're running quite well, and as always I do appreciate your input.

Here is what I'm running, and I've gone 1.48 in the 60ft with the 235/60 DR @ 3220lbs off the foot brake.

Thats alot of neat stuff. I have some decent control arms but Im running crappy 98 cobra shocks and still have stock bushings in the rearend housing etc. To be honest I have known for the longest time what I need to do to get the car where I want it, it just hasnt been a high priority.
I was just happy to get back out to the track and have a little fun.

BTW Nate, are you running tailpipes with that bar?

Yep,... my tailpipe ends right before the axle.... I've been thinking about trying to make it exit out back, but a single 3 1/2" pipe is hard to get over the rear axle.... Would look killer though...

The Lakewood's are individually adjustable. I don't know how they compare in price to your sway bars...

Well it looks like they are pretty close pricewise, within $50 or so. Looking into the anti-sway again it still seems like it will be tough to keep my tailpipes. I will have to research those Lakewoods and maybe a few of the "lift" bars and see. I havent looked at all the anti-sways either, might come across one that will work, who knows.

Air bag on the right side, or if you wanted to go whole hog you could remove the upper factory links and build a offset 3rd link to equalize tq to the tires ala the old C-type Jags…

http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/t_c_jag.gif

Then no or very little rear bar (for fine tuning) is required, for drag racing anyways…
