Brenspeed SCT X-Calibrator 2 Custom Programmer Arrived Today

All I can say is WOW!!!!
The Brenspeed X-Calibrator 2 made a world of difference. My 07 Mustang GT performs like a completely different car. The throttle lag is completely gone. I initially programmed the car with the 87 octane tune and was amazed at the difference over the factory computer settings. I drove it for a short time with the 87 tune then reprogrammed it with the 89 octane tune (I had filled the car with premium gas today in anticipation of the arrival of the X-Calibrator). There was a noticeable performance difference between 87 & 89 tunes. It's not as big as the difference between the 87 & the factory tunes but it is noticeable and I'm going to switch to the 93 octane tune for the ride home and see what difference that makes.
So far I am extremely pleased. The car has come alive. This is the only mod made so far, and it was money well spent.

I ordered the tune from Brenspeed over the phone on Friday. They were extremely knowledgable and willingly answered all of my questions. Service was top notch with the product actually being shipped the same day that it was ordered. So far the product has performed exactly as advertised.

My advice is that if you are thinking about doing this to your car, you won't be sorry.

Been there done that.Ditto on Brenspeed.Great guy answers questions quickly and honestly.First rate company.I bought an SCT-2 with the 93 oct tune.I was running the WMSracing CAI before with the stock tune and it was OK.Loaded Brents 87oct tune made a noticable difference like a whole different car then went to the 93 OCT.Major upgrade in proformance and also increase my MPG if I can keep my foot out of it and try and drive sensible. I am about ready to buy a Saleen Supercharger for my 05 GT e-mailed Brent about a Saleen tune from him.No problem has a :hail2: custom tune for the Saleen Pay for it and he e-mails it you you. Can't getany better than that.

What kind of Horsepower and Torque gains does the Brenspeed tune claim? I have been diligently looking at tunes (moreso for the throttle lag, but the extra ponies would be nice!!) and am somewhat confused about all the types out there.

And hearing this testamonial makes me think the tunes are well worth it.

Installing a tune is the first mod to do on these cars. If you can spring for a tuner AND cold air kit such as JLT or C&L, you will be amazed.

My car stock dyno'ed 264 horse. With Brent's tune, JLT II kit, and offroad H I got 296 horse. Brenspeed dynoed the offroad H pipe separately and it made 8 horse- so realistically, I would say that I gained 24 horse to the rear wheels, and NO throttle lag!

Most of the HP gain claims that I've seen quoted also include the addition of a CAI, so I can't really say what the HP increase is for just the Brenspeed tune. I'm not ready to go the CAI route just yet, as I first want to get an idea of how my service department will react concerning the warranty issue. I went with the Brenspeed because after talking with Brent I was satisfied that his product would cure my car of the throttle lag, which it did completely. After living with the Brenspeed X-Calibrator for a day, and driving each octane tune, I've got the 93 dialed in and plan to leave it there at least for now. There is a noticeable difference between the 87 & 93 octane tunes. The biggest difference though is going from the factory tune to the 87 octane tune. It really wakes the car up and completely removes the throttle lag. When you push on the gas, the car goes like one would expect a car with a 300 HP V-8 to perform. I've noticed that the slight cold engine sluggishness that I experienced with the factory tune is also gone. The thing is simple to use. You just plug it into the OBD II port under the steering column. The first time it is plugged in will take about two minutes to download your factory tune. Once it does that it will load the tune of your choice in about a minute or so. You just follow the on screen prompts. I was so impressed that I called Brent yesterday afternoon and told him how happy I was with his product.

Be warned that the modification to it will void your warranty! With that being said there is a way around that. reflash original tune then disconnect the battery for few minutes then ur ready for service. :D
here is a good read.....

Brent told me that all I needed to do was to reflash the computer back to stock before taking it in for service. I read the posting in the link, thanks. I don't understand why it's necessary to disconnect the battery when the reflash looks like a disconnected battery, unless we're trying to get the clock and radio stations to further make it look like the battery went dead....

reflash leaves a code, but unhooking the battery clears it. it does not come up as a CEL, but a code the dealer can read....

That also being said why not go ahead with the CAI? From what I have heard and read they are simple to add and all you have to do is just keep your stock air intake handy and swap it out if you want to go for service or hate to think (break down):( . I know of at least one that has told me they do this. If you have to reflash and disconnect the battery what is a few more minutes to swap out the air intakes for the extra hp gains?

Anyway just wanted to add some more to the previous comments.

And it's not all about tuning for max power, it's the adjustments to tranny (if you have an auto) and the rest of the engine management that makes a big difference in drivability and enjoyment.

FINNALY !! This is EXACTLY what a tune does !!:nice:

Also fixes mis match mods that cause engine to be out of tune...........

Hope to chip ours down the road after is broken in.
