car was cuting out during right turns so i dropped the tank to see what was wrong and the welds were broken for the baffle...is there any way too fix this or is a new tank the only way?? thanks

well since everything is soaked in gasoline and the only way to get in there is by cutting the metal... i would say go for it!

no sorry theres no way to fix it, same thing happened to mine... luckily all fuel tanks from 79-93 are the same exact part number from ford... so just go to the junkyard and ask about them (they take them outta the cars before they go on the lot)

the factory baffel is crap!

Have had this happen twice -second time on a new tank if you look closly at the attach point for the baffel it is soliderd on what were they thinking. so what I did was while holding the baffel in place with a pair of long needle nose plyers. I drilled a 1/8" hole through the tank and the baffel then put a cleco in it.I then driled a total of 6 holes to secure the baffle to the bottom of the tank. after cleaning the area with acetone real good I applied jb weld to the mating surfaces and fastend it with pop rivets that were dipped in more jbweld this was all done over a year ago and no leaks yet. chris
