Budget Project

Hey guys let me tell you a little about the car i bought it mid summer (i think) and i knew it was gonna be a project but wow i didnt know it was gonna be like this well since i just got out on my own i gotta make this a budget project but im going to take my time and do everything right. The car is an 86

the plans:
Royal Blue Metalic paint
1.5" drop springs and shocks
full exhaust
clean the interior
find some nice 4 lug wheels or find a cheap 5 lug conversion
clean up the engine bay (paint it to match the exterior)
not really wanting to do alot to the motor maybe h/c
fix some cancer
replace wiring harness
maybe some other things im sure im forgetting something

mods:
sub frame connectors
edelbrock performer intake
holley carb

first off i wanted to get the car one color so i just through some primer on it till i get to the paint

and now im in the middle of getting all the interior out of the car so i can start cleaning

heres how budget projects get done and you figure if its really a budget or not. Take what you think your going to spend on the car and double it. Thats usually what endsup happening. the little things add up and it ends up not being a budget build at all..

also taking your time will allow you to find those good "used "parts, salvage yard specials and one time deals instead of buying a new part everytime you need something.

yea im just doing everything as i go its not like im buying everything at once so its not a big deal. so if any1 has the parts i listed i would be really interested. thanks

awesome let me know as i was cleaning the interior today on my panels and carpets i saw it was really faded so now im wanting to switch it out (i really dont want to because its tan and its so hard to find) but for now ill just leave it alone

didnt get a whole lot done today just some cleaning ill be redoing my headliner tomorrow i hope it turns out good iv never done anything like that

i havent been updating much had a family issue but everything seems like its getting back on track i scored some stocker valve covers from a buddy cuz im not into the chrome look so now ill start sandin them down and hit them with some paint got 1 pic of the interior cleaned up its not the best but its all i can work with right now (keep in mind the interior is still apart)

and yes i do need new seat belts

knew the floors were bad so now im just gonna fix that then do all the interior while its out any1 ever fiberglassed a floor if so does it hold up pretty good?

You'd be better off cutting the panels out and welding in new sheet, I wouldn't trust fiberglass but that's just my opinion, unless your like me and have 0 welding skills

have 0 welding skill and no welder plus i got fiberglass in the garage guess it wouldnt hurt to slap it on see how it holds up if it fails ill just cut it but its not gonna be a everyday driver just a weekend warrior thats it ha ha thanks for your opinion

Being on a budget, I would go ahead and try the fiberglass. Like you say, if it doesnt work over time, then you can go all out and replace the metal.

Hey 50foxbody I got those seat belts out of my parts car today. I think they will fit in a flat rate box. I will let you know what the flat rate price is for postal service.

glass over metal will no work. period. get new pans and if you cant weld there is an autobody epoxy meant for patch panels. give that a try, but glassing over it is just going to make things worse later on. i have seen it done. even owned a car it was done to. could have shot th PO for doing that.

iv seen it done on older cars with alot of fiberglass like i said ill try it and see if it holds for a little while ill have some updates this coming week and thanks for every1 help

dude take the car to any muffler shop and have them weld in the new pans cut from any car at a yard, they will charge a MAX of 20 bucks to have something simple done like that
