Here are the bugs I need help fixing...........
My car is and 87 gt. I converted it to a 5 speed. Every since then when i brake the idle goes up. Then i bought a Trickflow top-end kit. Installed the Twisted wedge heads, Stage 1 cam, Track heat intake, 1.6 rockers. After that I installed a Accufab 75mm throttlebody, C&l 76mm mass air meter, 24lb injectors, and a C&l truflow pipe. Everthing was a clean install. The iac is clean, I can only get the tps to .90, timing is advanced. All vacuume lines are connected. theses are the bugs before and now.

Before: After converting to 5 speed.
1. Idle goes up when braking didnt before.
2. Gas gauge not working.

After: Top end install.
1. Still no gas gauge. It stays full, then it starts going down fast drop to empty. I put $5 in it then it goes back to full. Also have to put the gas in slowly or it rushes out.
2. When I start the car it jumps to a high idle then comes back down then dies. I have to try starting it 3 times before it stays running. It also loads up at an idle.

3. Once idling it idles fine, can really hear the cam. Then i can take it around the block and the car idles between 1,000 and 2,000 rpm's. When cold idling its around 700-900.

I put new oxygen sencors in it, I am running a stock fuel pump with stock regulator. The vacuume can in the fender well is not hooked up. Stock ignition. exhaust is BBK long tubes, BBK H-Pipe, Mac pro dumps. Transmission is a Tremec 3550 with king cobra clutch. stock driveshaft and 4.10 gears. Car should be mean but with these bugs its making it more like a turd. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I checked all the idling checklist and still nothing. Thanks for the help.................

Has the car been converted to Mass Air? I had a surging idle problem with my 87GT when I added H/C/I. I bought and installed the Ford Motorsport Mass Air Conversion Kit and my idle problem was solved. Nice smooth idle with no spikes during braking.

Sorry just read your mod sig. again and saw the 76mm Mass Air modification.

Replace the TPS. It will cause idle problems. See the Sticky at the top of the forum ": Help me create the Surging Idle Checklist" for more idle help.

I beleive if the idle rises when you hit the brakes, it's a sign of a faulty brake booster creating a vacuum leak.

I think the brake booster is bad. I t hisses alot when you apply the brakes. I also noticed that as soon as i started it and take off there is hardly any peddle to brake with. It seems as if theres not enough vacuume for the breaks until i drive for a couple minutes. Could the booster cause a rough idle at all times or just breaking?

pour some seafoam in the brake booster line. i hear it does a great job of cleaning it out (and makes a nice smoke show ;-) And allthough i dont think this realates to your problem...you should now go get a 190 or 255lph pump and afpr
