Building a t3/t4 turbo. Would this work?

I'm trying to replace my dead turbo, I would like a t3/t4 setup. I havent found exactly what i need on e-bay, but i have found parts of what i need...


Could i put my (water-cooled) center section from my SVO turbo on this:

to make a water-cooled, t3/t4? or is the above turbo not even worth ~$200 for some reason??

And what dou you think of this gasket?

If anyone knows where to get a hybrid for ~$400 or so, please let me know.

I will find the number to my Turbo Machinist/mechanic. I got mine for a good price and he does good work.
i dont have the number here though.

No need to mix and match just to get a water cooled center section...water cooled T3's are no better than non-water cooled IMO. I deleted the water lines on all of mine.

I dont know about that. I would say they help in the long run. That is why the water cool was designed anyways. It helps keep the bearings cooler, but it does make plumbing alot more interesting. Probably help warm up the motor a lil faster to.

TurboFlush...in most cases it would help, if you look at how the water flows in a T3 though, you would notice it's virtually useless. Ford experimented with it in the 80's and realized it didn't help minimize the warranty claims they were getting for the turbos.

Ok, I am home now.

the place is called EvergreenTurbo and based out of Florida. They do all kinds of custom work and basically after having a couple places do ****ty rebuilds, I only trust them because they have never failed me yet. there website: http://evergreenturbo.com/
not much on the site, but they really rather that U call anyways.
Charlie is the one I talked with (just mention the Sierra project )

Stinger, I will have to look into that water issue on my turbo (never looked closely). also; do you still have those cobra springs? I want to see if they will fit my Sierra (sagin in the caboos).

Hey thanks a lot for the resource TurboFlush, I'll give em a call on monday.

I've read, and it makes sense, that the water cooling does virtualy nothing for you while the engine is running... but, it helps take some of the heat away from the bearings faster when you turn the engine off. sounds like it would increase the long-term durability of the center section. and sure, its a pain to run extra pipes to get water to it, but if its already there like my setup, it would be less work to hook it back up than it would to cap them off.

any idea's on that gasket i linked, compared to the thin steel felpro gasket? The one i linked looks like the felpro oil return gasket....
