I am new to the classic mustang side, and am picking up a 1968 coupe on Saturday in VA. While in VA I have the opportunity to purchase a set of bullitt style wheels and tires off of a 2002 gt.

I have tried searching the forums, but seem to find differing opinions. It looks like the lug patterns are the same and that I would need a 1" or so spacer on the front.

I basically just want to know if they will work. I don't want to buy new wheels and have unexpected costs to put them on or have them not work at all.

Am I missing something?? Is there something else I will need or should consider??

Thanks in advance.

Ben

Can be done, but I'm not a fan of wheel spacers.

It's ironic that the original Bullitt car was a 1968, and the 2004 wheels were an imitation of the wheels used on that 1968 car, and the actual wheels used on that 1968 car are available new now.

Factory 17x8s on the front w 1" spacers. 245/45/17s. Repro 17x 9s on the rear w 275/40/17s. No spacer. You'd probably want to run a 1" spacer in the rear w factory 17x8s.

So is that all I need??

No issues with rubbing or hitting the tie rods, etc??

I would be happy if all I needed was 1 inch spacers. Can the spacers themselves cause any problems later on??

Thanks again.

I kept my stock bullitts off my 04 when i put new wheels on it and sometimes I run them on my 68. All you need is 1 inch spacers all the way around and they fit perfect.

I have been saying spacers, but I am looking at the bolt-on adapters. I guess for some they are interchangable.

Does anyone see any problems with using a 1" spacer(adapter) on the front and a 1.5" on the rear (to bring the tire more flush with the fender).

I appreciate everyone'e input.

Actually, I went out and looked in the garage, I have 1 inch for the front and 1.5 in the back. You really want 1 or maybe 1.25 in back because mine rub sometimes. 245/45 on all 4. Here's a couple of pics.
