Buying 94 Cobra

Looking for a little help.

I'm in the process of purchasing a 94 Cobra, however the vin lists in as a GT Bodystyle with a Cobra motor (P42D). Is this fairly common for the early Cobras, it has all of the right extras for a Cobra, and the owner says he has the SVT certificate.

I fairly certain it's a legitimate Cobra, I just want to make sure all of my t's are crossed.

The 8th digit should be a "D", that designates Cobra motor.

The 8th is a "D" with the 5th-7th being P42 which decodes as a GT with Cobra Motor, I didn't know if this was fairly common for the early Cobras, not to have the Cobra body code.

I have the same combination in my 94 Cobra's vin (P42D). As long as your 8th number is an D then it is a legitimate cobra. I called SVT prior to purchasing mine a short while back to verify this.
