I have a 2005 mustang GT that has a new battery from this spring. But the CD changer keeps running and draining the battery. I keeps thinking that there are cd's in it and acts like it is loading or unloading. Has anyone run into this problem.

I have a battery disconnect for the negative side on my 07 - it was pretty cheap - I installed it b/c my security system was draining the battery dead - but when I 'join' it back together my CD player Does go all crazy .......like its loading or unloading - but it does stop / plus my tire pressure sensor goes off - but then it just stops - In your case - I'm thinking faulty stereo head unit / or head unit connection.....my 2 cents....

Back in the day when I routinely did audio stuff I'd occasionally come across a system that would do this. A number of the units that I had issues with had failed load sensors - they "see" the passage of the disk and when it passed it would turn off the load motor. Not sure if this is your unit's issue, but I suspect a new head unit (or used one from a forum member who's already replaced his) would be a cheaper solution than an attempted repair.

Just replaced my Shaker 500 for the same thing. The mechanism inside the unit is broken wanting to constantly load even when the car is off. Probably the only solution is to replace it either with another Shaker or a unit you would like to have aftermarket.
