C4 trans help needed

So I'm working on my 89 fox body that has a 347 stroker with a c4 trans down in it. I had a leak on the trans where the kick down cable hooked into the side so I replaced that seal in there. Now here comes my problem. I got everything put back together and fluid back in it, only problem now is that after I filled the trans back up I do not have reverse. I have park and all forward gears but when I put it into reverse, the tires still spin forward. I have drained everything and made sure I got the valve body reinstalled correctly and it's still doing the same thing. Curious if anybody has any ideas to try before I throw it on a trailer and take it into a shop to be fixed? Previous owner told it had reverse valve body and high stall converter in it but didn't figure anything would change by just fixing the shift shaft seal leak. All fluid looked good and not burnt. Any ideas would be a big help.

Thanks.

Yes I believe i do. Had the wife shifting it for me while I was under the car spinning the drive shaft. You could feel it lock up when in park, have drag on it when in reverse, then go freely when in neutral, then back to having drag when going into drive.

It's suppose to have a reverse valve body in it. Could that be part of the problem?

I would guess, if the only thing that was removed was valve body and the shift link that maybe the shift link is in the wrong place like sticking a distributor one tooth off? Is that possible :shrug:I'd have to consult my book to see if it even covers it.
Just for clarity, you have Park, can't roll vehicle, reverse wheels spin forward, Neutral and three forward gears right?
