Hey guys, I need some good advice on a T5 swap. I have searched the forums and have had a hard time. I need to install a T5 from a 94 gt and install it into a 89 gt. I know that the input shaft is 5/8 inch too long on the 94, but which one do I need. I have been told that i cant just take one off of any 87 to 93. Please help

Yes you can. I have a trans in my coupe from a 95. We switched the input shaft( I got a new one) and decided now was the time for a new bearing retainer.

How did you figure out which shaft you needed, where did you get it. Ive heard that not just any shaft from a 87-93 will work

I took one off a 96 V6 car (same rating as ours), installed the input shaft out of my factory 91 tranny into it and bolted it in with no problem. Ive never heard that they are different. Put your input shaft and bearing retainer and bolt that puppy in.

The 10 spline 23 tooth input shaft from an 85.5 - 93 v8 t5 is what you want.

4 banger won't work

Z spec t5 uses a 24 tooth input shaft.

Yeah drop on a steel bearing retainer. It's well worth it. Just make sure you install the correct way.
