Do cam sensors give any problems? 96 4.6 pi swapped. It will start up fine and can stop at the gas station and cut it off and go inside and when I come back it won't start right up it takes a couple of times. Also it has cut off on me when pulling up to a stop light or it has just cut out going down the road. What could this be? Thanks for the help?

It isn't throwing any code either.

Have a ripple test done on your alternator. Make sure the battery is fully charged and maintains correct voltage under load.

Left work and drove probably 6 miles enough to get it good and hot and it cut off on me pulling up to a red light. Had to let it cool off for about 10-15 min and it started right up. Then drove 3-4 more miles and it cut off again. Let the fan run for about 5 min and it started and got to where I was going. I'm thinking the cam sensor is bad. 250,000+ miles on it. What do y'all think?

For the info I provided I had in my mind you had a cam sensor code. What I said may not be valid

You need to provide more info.

How long has it been since you changed the fuel filter? Have you checked fuel pressure? What mods do you have?

You need to stop driving it till you get this fixed.

Sounds like the fuel pump is on its way out.

No codes? Try the easy stuff first. Fuel filter if you haven't done that already.

I am not running out of fuel so I don't think it is the fuel pump. I got a cam sensor and put it in today and drove it around for a while with no problems.

Wouldn't it be acting like I was running out of URL if it was the fuel pump? It is just all of a sudden cutting off like it is losing ignition all of a sudden. And I can still turn the switch on and hear the fuel pump running but it still not crank.

Fuel filter...if you haven't done so. Save the pump for last. Is the check engine light on?

Not fixed still doing it. But it only does it when the temp outside is warmer so the car runs warmer. On cold days it doesn't do it. So not sure what it is. Still don't think it could be fuel related but not sure. What do ya think?

Checked fuel pressure and found it was steady even when the car shut off. Checked for ignition and found none when trying to start back after it had cut off. Now I'm thinking crank sensor. What do y'all think?

Crank sensor or cam sensor would be throwing specific CEL codes. What was your fuel pressure?

30-40 never dropped off just lost ignition or spark. Put crank sensor in it tonite and so far so good!
