Camping

Just went camping at the Santa Cruz KOA. Had a great time. Lots of fog, and very cold, but it was awesome.

Pictured above is my wife in our 10 man tent which we put behind the RV.

In the above picture my two dogs are in the RV.

At the beach boardwalk my son and I got Santa Cruz sweatshirts to stay warm.

The KOA that we stayed at was featured on Undercover Boss a while ago. We love it there. We gone two years in a row now. Even though it's basically a huge parking lot with cabins, RVs, and tents, it's a great place. They have an in-ground blob and a playground along with various things and activities to keep little kids occupied and entertained, plus the joys of tents and campfires and smells and aromas and, of course, the food.

And, to top it all off (My apologies for the little kid who use the F bomb in this video. I don't know him. If it is a problem, I can remove the video.):

speaking of camping. Wife wants to go over to Allegheny national forest and do some primitive camping in a few months.....We did one a year or two ago which wasn't too bad, but not good either. lol Last one we had to hike about 5 miles to our camp site, with 15-20lbs of gear on our back. Up and down the side of a mountain! Pretty much killed me, lol. Was awesome when we got there, though. It was right along a lake. which was pretty cool.

This years would be about the same, execpt the sites we are going to we are only alound to stay one night. So, after the first night, we would have to pack everything up and hike to our next site. Then come all the back the next day.

I went "camping" with my parents during my teens years. They first rented log cabins, then bought a motorhome and now tow a pop-up.
My wife and daughter love it, too, but we'd only camp in tents if you could guarantee it was sunny and 70s the whole time. So yea, we're pussies. We go to Knoebel's Grove (PA) every July. It's a very family oriented campground right next to one of the oldest (still free to enter!) amusement parks in the country.
I'll be honest. My dad's the real handy guy I just show up, drink booze and play with fire.

Jeep Liberty are teh suck.

Window regulators are a maintenance item on them. 3.7s are ticking (literally ticking) time bombs just waiting to blow up (don't know what it is about the V6 version of the 3.7/4.7 architecture, but the 3.7s life expectancy is about half that of a 4.7, and 4.7s aren't generally expected to see 200,000 miles). Then there's the electrical issues, the A/C system design, the fact that there's less room to put a serpentine belt in them than there is on most FWD vehicles, the ignition switch piece that likes to fail and results in having to buy the switch or the whole column from a dealer or junkyard, window switches (probably related to the constant regulator failures), alternator failures...

Don't get me wrong, I love the Jeep Liberty, the fact that Chrysler built so many assures me a steady income stream whether I'm working in a shop or behind a parts counter! (Kind of like Cavaliers, Malibus, Neons, Sunfires, etc.)

I drive Dodge Nitro, which is the same platform as the Liberty. I bought it new in 2007, which came with a lifetime drivetrain warranty. The only issue I have had with it was a bad electronics module, which caused the wipers to stop working, and the driver's side door handle broke.

Getting back to camping, the Nitro has 1 AC outlet and 2 DC outlets. We can pump up an air mattress as a result, which is a handy camping feature.

and....back to camping! Derail again Noobz and I am gonna have to report you.....kthxbye o_O

Anywho, we have our trip this weekend, instead of doing the 5 mile hike to our site, we have decided to rent a couple of canoes and canoe to our site this time. Should be more fun. This way we can also bring a cooler and a little more stuff then if we had to carry it all for 5 miles.
Also, what is nice about canoeing, we are able to set up site anywhere along the reservoir!. There are a few actual sites though that would have bathrooms and water pumps.

My mom bought an'06 Liberty last Spring as a DD. She tows the pop-up with it and other than poor gas mileage, my parents love it. I forget what they had to replace but for a few months the keys wouldn't come out of the ignition, lucky they had a spare. And the power steering return line sprung a leak and had to be swapped out.
