I think a 99 Mustang would have a problem with a 05 Vett NA.. you would need heads cams and gears to tie one.. but the 05 Mustang with bolt ons might be able to take one..

But its not fair we are compairing a car with a 5.7 to a 4.6, we should be allowed a power adder..

hi to all, being the owner of a z06 and an 03 gt, i can tell you from personal experience, stock to stock, a z06 will smoke a gt. like it was said before, a vette is a lot more money, but no way in god's green earth will a mustang gt, mach 1 and to some degree, a cobra beat a z06, again, all being bone stock. dont get me wrong, i love my mustang, but a vette beater it isnt. my z06 is essentially stock, only a vararam intake and stingers, which is just a sound adder and i run 12.4 granny shifting at 117..z06's have the potential if driven hard(powershifting) for 11.8's. just my 2 cents...

I dont think this is a dumb question. N/A doesnt mean stock, it means no power adders (blower, nitrous). A GT with heads, cams, intake, gears, and exhaust can make quite a bit of power N/A. And, as has already been pointed out (Ken B) can run in the 10's. It getting easier and easier to get these cars into the 11-12 second range.

cams and heads along with all the basic bolt ons should get a mustang gt over 300 hp at the wheels. A C5 probably puts down about 300 at the wheels. Of course it can be done it will just take a lot of work.

Do you even know what an 03+ Cobra is? Stock for stock they are pretty damn close to Z06's.

I eat C5 vettes for breakfast! If I decide to use the juice, then Z06's start to look rather tasty!

if i'm not mistaken, with LT's, gears, and slicks cant you get the new GT's into the high 12's??? i know i've seen a couple guys on here running 12's with barely any mods

wich would be enough to out 1/4 mile a vette.

I dont think its a dumb question,
he quite obviously stated a MODIFIED N/A GT vs a stock Vette... end of story, sure he could search threads or time slips, but I'm guessing hes meaning light to light, while light to light is similar to the 1/4 in some ways, the setup would be different, Kens car probly would be very volatile on the light to light action...

So I'm putting words in his mouth now, but what would a N/A GT need to beat most stock vettes concistantly and still be a fairly comfortable DD

you dont need longtubes, but they would help . not many stock c5s run better than low 13's high 12's. so a bolt on stang with some tire can edge them out in the 1/4. zo6 03/04 cobra is easily won by a z06. the z has a good 6+mph trap on a stock cobra.

just because i have a lot better driving skills than most c5 track newbs I can beat them street tire to street tire most of the time.

98-2004 C5 Vette has 350hp and usually runs low 13's in the 1/4mi. There are many GT's out there that do that with minor bolt ons (i.e. no power adders). So yes a modded GT can easily run with a regular C5 in the 1/4 with little problem but what else is new.

If thats the case, then I can beat a stock Vette

All the times I've been to the track, I've never gotten paired up with one

Maybe next year!

Hey (mogs01gt) I saw were you have the FoxLake Heads and Comp Cam's. How much did it help you out like RWHP wise. I just bought the FoxLake Stage2 Ported Heads and Comp Cam's(XE278AH) and the Diablosport Predator Programmer and i have just about all the bolton's on my ride. How Much of a HP Gain should i be seeing in doing this.

Please tell me you have a built short-block and/or have the pistons fly-cut for valve reliefs.
