Door wire harnesses 1996 GT

Hey everyone, it’s been a while. The ex wife tried to keep/part out the car but I got it back. When I got it here, it didn’t have its doors fenders or hood. I found a set of doors in Oklahoma that were clean and picked them up.

After finishing the body work and paint, I found out the harnesses for the doors don’t match the plugs in the car. It took me forever to find a set of harnesses that will plug into the car, but the harness doesn’t match the door. I got the window and mirror working, but I need to add a plug to make the locks work. The doors had double 12 pin plugs, the car has a 12 and 6 pin plugs. Anyone have any schematics so I can wire the plug for the lock motor into the harness?

What year car? 94-95 and 96-97 will be similar to each other while 98 had a lot of odd changes (no idea how that reflects to door plugs etc). I don't think it should matter v6 or v8 cars though.

My car is a 96. I’m not sure what year the doors are from, but it would seem newer like a 98 from the harness. I called ford and got the PN’s my harnesses should be, but couldn’t find them anywhere for sale. Those are the PN’s for what the car supposedly came with. It has power windows, locks, mirrors and the Mach sound system which doesn’t matter because I don’t use it.

Are both door harnesses the same. I ask because the vert harness is different on driver door vs coupe.

The ones on the doors that I got are the same. Both are double 12 pin.

Well I got it mostly figured out. Got everything working, they had splices in the harness, so once I got it working the drivers side window switch worked backwards. Got that straightened out, got the locks working, and found out the passenger window motor is bad. I’m still gonna take this as a win.

What ended up being the issue on the plugs? Spliced harnesses can be a pain to trouble shoot.

They had some of the wires splice in backwards. Also, when I was pulling the switches off to ring the wires out, I was met with a partially melted switch. Partially melted is being very generous.
