Can get a 140mph cluster from junkyard will the speedo work in my 87

I have the 140mph white face gauges in my 87 (orignal 85mph) and i thought just a gear change would calibrate it....well i was wrong. i need the speedometer guts from a 140mph speedo. They guy doesnt know what year it is but will the guts fit right in if its a 90-93? i need to know pretty quick here, he wants $40 for the whole cluster. ( i would just need the speedo though, i wouldnt install the whole thing)

You'd be better off changing the whole cluster vs. just the speedo but you shouldn't have any fitment issues, I did the same thing in my ex's 87 and put a 92 speedo in it.

well the white faces are already on all the 87's gauges. i think the speedo should swap right out, actually im almost positive

There is one problem, the cluster for 90-93 have clearance for airbag crap. If you want to do it right you either need to send your speedo to someone to recalibrate it or you can follow my directions and swap just the mechanicals.:

thats the thing im not installing the whole cluster. just swapping speedos.

Yes you can just swap out the mechanical parts. Mike - Mustang5L5 on here has done it and many others have also. Mike has posted several pics of his swap on here also, but I don't have the link right at hand. I just swapped the whole speedo part of mine since I didn't want the white face gauges.

Just swap the speedos. ANY 89-93 140MPH speedo will work.

I covered this in your other thread. Even provided pictures showing you how to remove the speedo
