Can i run the engine/tranny without the driveshaft? vibration testing...

All in the title!

i wanna know if the problem is in the tranny...

wouldn't advise on it, the DS yoke supports the end of the outpout shaft

Yes, Put a plug in the transmission because of fluid and give it a try. We had a test engine we installed transmissions on to test them at speed. Millions served and No problems

If you don't put a plug in it, it'll be like using a bleder without the lid

ok cool i did it.
the car was jack from the rear... so no oil at all...

my problem is now ds/rear end for sure...

k sorry about that bock, i just didn't want you to jack something up. is the vibration speed correlated at all? does it happen randomly or when you're turning or something?


very likely just the u joints or out of balance stock DS

its there at 70 mph and up... increasing when going faster and going down when slower.... If in neutral at high speed(70 and up) you can ear it a lot... but not feeling it much...

just pick up an fms aluminum DS with new u joints on it... you'll be good to go

I heard that a drive shaft from an aerostar fits, any one else hear this? It's an alum. D.S

I've heard this too (seems like AWD Aerostars were what was mentioned) but I have NOT done this so I cant offer first hand advice or thoughts.
