block is a 71 351 w if i went with that kit above for my motor would i have to run a reduced basecircle cam? motor is a 408 4 inch stroke. summit said i wouldnt have to but ive heard about problems with the oiling holes ligning up etc.
Thanks,

Yea, you'd need a reduced base circle cam to use the factory style roller lifters. Crane makes a set of link bar hydraulic rollers that can be used with the off the shelf std base 5.0 roller cams but they cost somewhere north of $400.

no, you don't need the kit with the special crane lifters.
yes, you need to use the special lifters to use a std base cam.

Every cam mfg makes solid rollers. Take your pic. But you'll need screw in studs, guide plates, springs, retainers and full roller rockers to take advantage of a solid roller. Then you'll have a rev potential that'll over power the bottom end.

Yea, I'd say a solid roller wouldn't be a bad idea.
