can you turn the 04 gt traction lock off?

Read somewhere you have a button to turn the traction control off in the gt? any help or information will be helpful. Thanks

Doesn't your car have a "trac off" button in the center console by the shifter? It does, in fact, do as labeled.

a friend of mine just bought and 04 40th annv gt and there is no button to turn it off or on. Was it not offered or what?? is it an option what gives??

My g/f's '04 shadow gray GT has the trac off button right where mine is I dont know whats up with your friends car.

is traction control good to have? is it better for light to light racing or just good for better driving.

If no button, then you don't have it. Hmmm....hadn't realized that it was an option for 2004. Ford's really de-optioning the Mustang pre-2005, eh?

For racing, performance it's better to turn it off. Use it in bad weather mainly.

I too thought that ABS and TControl were standard equipment. What gives??

I should have waited for a 04. I hate that trac $H!T. The only way to get rid of it is with the diablo

dunno..but i believe it became like a $700 option ..i think..i know mine came with it..and i have to turn off usin button in center everytime i crank up...either way, if u have it, then u have the button

I think 2002 was the height of standard features (could be wrong). My '02 is a Deluxe with no options whatsoever, and it came with both t/c and abs standard.

Anyway, its nice to have but not essential if you don't. Just be careful when the weather gets bad, and you'll be fine.

I use the trac control pretty much everywhere except when I'm trying to come hard off the line and obviosly I turn it off at the track...other than that it really doesn't inhibit your performance all that much because it rarely ever engages in most driving situations...plus it makes things safer in accident avoidance situations

The "bean counters" ravaged the Mustang again.

ABS has become an option, and the TC went with it.

The only problem with that is if you didnt choose the TC option you wouldnt get the ABS either.

I think you are confusing the "trac-lock" differental with "traction control". If you have Traction Control, you have a button. The Trac-lock is the differental. Every Mustang GT has it.

I didn't know it was an option...I have an 04 and it's there in the middle. I have it off unless it's bad weather. I really haven't seen it kick in yet though...but I won't drive without it if it's even drizzling. What kind do you have? My package it came with was Premium, maybe that makes a difference?

Someone makes a module that plugs into that switch and makes it a true on/off switch. You hit the button and it stays off (or on) even if you turn the car off and start it up again. It remebers what you want and keeps it that way. I read about it in a magazine. It's out there.
