i have a hard time getting my car to idle down below 2 grand, here is what i have, It's a 85, former cfi car, just put a intake and carb, procomp hei dizzy, still has stock fuel pump and i have the idle screw all the way back. The only things i can think of is maybe the stock pump is giving to much fuel or maybe it has something to do with my choke? thanks for the help.

sounds like the fuel pump is providing too much fuel, you should have swapped a mechanical fuel pump on when you went to carb IMO

i'm starting to think so, maybe a fuel regulator, i'm gonna get a fuel pressure gauge and see what my pressure is, is there a good way to test my choke "it's electric"

7-9psi is max for a carb setup. You are probably pushing fuel down in the carb from too much pressure.

p.s. If the choke opens after a few seconds on its own, it works

i'm thinking it's the fuel pump, i checked the vac lines and replaced one and fired it up and ideled at like 12 g, i was like rock on, but it died after like 30 seconds, and i realized i did'nt turn my fuel pump on, so i played with it a bit and found if i had the pump on the rpm's stayed high, but if i turned it on long enuff to get pressure then turned it on the rpm's stayed lower, so i think i need a regulator
